I Believe In A Thing Called Love Recap
10/26/2021 7:00 pm
Our precious few episodes of Supergirl are dwindling down. That's ok though, as we are slowly coming to terms that the show is ending. Looking backward to last week, the polls did not show "Nightmare in National City" in a favorable light. First episode where no stars showed up in the top three rankings. Personally for us, we were so excited for tonight's all new episode because we are such huge fans of Jon Cryer's Lex Luthor! Having him team up with Nyxly in a villain combination that even Supergirl might need help with! The question still remains, however, is Lex truly on Nyxly's side, or will he double- cross her to get what he wants? Here's what stood out to us:
- Lex Luthor from the Future: Lex teams up with Nyxly, convincing her that together they will be able to complete the all stone. Lex explains he is from the future, and in that timeline, he and Nxy teamed up, but something went wrong and she nearly died. He is here to change the future. Nyxly rebuffs him, not trusting his words. Back at the tower, Alex shows Kara and J’onn the ring that she got for Kelly. Tomorrow is when she will propose to Kelly, on the day she knew she loved her, and nervously plans around the proposal. Alex goes to the bar, hoping to book it for tomorrow. The owner explains that the place is booked up, and offers to book them a different day. Lex speaks with Otis, figuring out how to have this Nyxly fall in love with him just like in the future. At night the team set a trap for Nyxly, placing the heart totem in a tree and surrounding her. Lena suppresses the totem’s powers with magic, but it’s not enough. The rest of the team attack, about to take her into containment when Lex shows up to rescue her. Before leaving, he looks at a shocked Lena and asks, “Miss me, sis?”
- Kryptonite Recovery: Lena and Kara disuss the battle. They just fought Lex and Nyxly and Lena is pissed. Andrea pushes William to run his Lex story but William buys 24 hours to prove it. Lex's tech looks like it came from the 31st century. Lex is time traveling. Brainy tries to use the totems as a way to protect the team. Brainy hasn't contacted the legion yet about Lex traveling to the future. J'onn and Kara think about which totem to use and the courage totem is selected. But it still has the gauntlet on it so J'onn volunteers to try.
- J'onn's Gauntlet: J'onn relives the genocide of the green martians and passes the gauntlet. Lex, being from the future already knows when and where the totems are and he sets Nyxly on the path for the love totem and that she'll need Lex's help. Both teams go for the totem but neither are able to get it. Kara experiences a nightmare from the dream totem. Did Lex whisk away the love totem?
- A Hateful Reason: The love totem is known to disappear from time when it feels hate. Nyxly's hateful reason for wanting the totem pushed it away. Through the courage gauntlet, J'onn performed differently but he still lost his daughters, and that feeling happened again when Supergirl was hit with the nightmare. Supergirl decides that she wants to use all the totems they have to fight against Lex and Nyxly. Kara asks that Lena's magic help her to keep her humanity when she uses the totems. We discover that Lex meets Nyxly in the future after she is successful with the all stone. Without her burden, she was much more receptive to Lex.
- A Double Cross Booking: Alex and Kelly have the same plan all along and they both booked Al's bar. Alex arrives to speak with Al but Kelly is already there to propose. The proposal summons the love totem. Lex and Nxyly arrive and Kara and J'onn begin to battle the pair. Kara uses the totems and Lena keeps her in check with her magic. They were able get Nyxly trapped but Lex jumps to her aid.
In the final wrap up moments, the love totem has turned black. Alex and Kelly resume their proposal after Alex assures the team love hasn't left this world. Nyxly is saved by Lex and it seems that his love for Nyxly is genuine. Nyxly sees Lex's actions as enough to take him as a friend and trust him. The team celebrates at the tower. Brainy saw the change in Lex and he decides to go to the future and speak with the Legion. Lex reveals that the totems can't be destroyed, they just take on a new shell. That shell for the love totem is Esme! Check out a preview for next week's all new episode below:

Whew, ok we knew this day would come and it's just best to pull the bandaid off. Supergirl will end her six-year run with a two-hour season finale. For logistics, the finale is separated into two episodes with two separate titles and separate synopses. A few things to note as we examine the finales. Glen Winter who directed the pilot of the show, returns to direct episode 619. Winter also has directed episodes of Stargirl. The final episode will feature the wedding for Kelly and Alex and as we've seen on the paparazzi sites, we get to welcome back series stars, Jeremy Jordan, Mehcad Brooks, and Melissa's husband Chris Wood! Here's the synopsis for "The Last Gauntlet":

Nightmare in National City Recap
10/19/2021 7:00 pm
Another precious episode of Supergirl tonight! They feel like they are slipping thought our fingers with there being so few left! One bright spot to keep your eye on, however, is that even after Supergirl is over, Chyler Leigh's Alex Danvers is set to appear in the five part Flash Armageddon event! While not Supergirl, her sister is the next best thing! Looking to the episode tonight, Supergirl and team destroyed the hope totem and that has to have consequences. Does Lex provide Nyxly the ability to reform the totem? Can it be retrieved from the sun somehow? What causes National City to be put under some kind of dome? All good questions with answers, here's what stood out to us:
- New Totem Race: The search for the dream totem is stalled when Nia learns that her sister took all her mother's books and ran off. Nia has a vision that could lead to a break in her search. Nyxly searches for the secret admirer, but finds out that there is a voice who claims to be her and knows her innermost secrets. At the super tower they are discussing the diplomatic negotiations at the civic center, between the rivaling countries from last episode. Nia knocks on the door of a Professor Neeve and is floored to find out it’s her sister. The sisters have an icy conversation that leads nowhere. Nxy arrives at National City Dreams Institute to retrieve a totem from a sleeping man. Supergirl and team try to stop her, but with the help of her new gauntlet, she escapes. A nightmare monster manifests itself in the city, heading towards a nuclear power plant. In order to defend the population, Lena traps the monster in a dome.
- The Dream Totem: Nia discovers her sisters practice and the pair begin to try and find where the totem might be. Nia decided to invite her sister on her quest to find the dream totem. Team Supergirl discover what Nyxly's plan was. They are attempting to replicate Nyxly's tech to go in after her. Supergirl has to go back to Catco for her interview practice. Nia and Maeve wander the forest to find Maeve's necklace glows in the forest, this leads them to the door to the dreamscape. The door closes behind them. In the dreamscape, there are these spires that represent all the dreams on Earth. Only one has the totem and Nia and her sister can find it, Nyxly, at the behest of her new AI follows them in secret.
- Government Intervention: The Superfriends are being blamed for their dome. They operate outside the law and the law is starting to get tired of the action without clearance. Nia and Maeve find the spire that has the totem. They have a while to walk to get to it but they were able to see it. Supergirl struggles with her secret identity. Her duties as Supergirl are overriding her job and her job is starting to say it's not ok. Supergirl has to hang up the cape for the interview she arranged.
- One Hour: The dome is coming down in an hour no matter what. Supergirl is stressed because she can't be in two places at once. In the dreamscape, Maeve makes a play to get the Dream totem. She is found unworthy and her deception is revealed to Nia. Nia gives it back to her sister for being so selfish when Nyxly appears to take the totem.
- Dreamer vs Nyxly: Dreamer fights Nyxly in the dreamscape. Dreamer is about to lose when Maeve gives Nia the necklace and that supercharges her. She blasts Nyxly but she escapes with the totem. Supergirl needs to stay put for the interview but she leaves to help when the dome goes down. The dream monster reappears and the government attacks it drawing it away from the trap team Supergirl set up. Supergirl is able to push the monster into the portal but Kara misses the interview.
In the final wrap up moments, Kara reflects on her mistake in missing the interview. Andrea gives Kara a second chance. Kara offers the interview to William and she quits Catco. She turns around as Supergirl and asks that William help her speak directly to the people of National City. Nia and Maeve walk out of the forest but Nia is hurt by what Maeve said and did. Maeve asks for forgiveness but finds none from Nia. Instead, Nia offers Maeve a final chance to be sisters one last time. Supergirl addresses the city and asks for forgiveness. She dedicates herself to stopping Nyxly at any cost. Nyxly then meets Lex! Check out the preview for next week's all new episode below:

I Believe In A Thing Called Love Gallery
10/19/2021 11:26 am
We are getting close to those last precious few episodes left of Supergirl! Many of you may have caught the cast all reminiscing about the show at DC Fandome. Check out our forum if you haven't seen it. Our hope is that there might be a longer version of it on future DVD/Bluray sets. Additionally Melissa has been doing the talk show circuit promoting the show's end and her new book. Turns out six years of flying can take it's toll. Looking ahead to episode 17 of the final season, "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" we have brand new images from the episode. Never understood why they release those on the day of a new episode but we can't complain, check them out below:

Truth or Consequences Synopsis
10/14/2021 6:20 pm
Only three episodes left of Supergirl when we get to this episode synopsis. Episode 18 synopsis now has a title, "Truth or Consequences". So obviously the purposal has taken place because this episode includes Alex and Kelly's bachlorette party! The real sleeper for us here is that Brainy is going to get some heart breaking news. We imagine its from the future somehow. Maybe they were able to stop the AI virus in the 31st century? William and Andrea are going to go toe to toe and we think its about time. Andrea didn't really grow and is still all about the money. Maybe she'll come around in the end. Read the full synopsis for yourself below:
THREE EPISODES LEFT UNTIL THE SERIES FINALE – Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is determined to keep everyone safe from Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) and Nyxly (Peta Sergeant) so she doubles down on patrol, especially as Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Kelly’s (Azie Tesfai) bachelorette party is coming up. Alex is torn between duty and finally allowing herself the time to enjoy her new family. Brainy (Jesse Rath) receives heartbreaking news, and William (Staz Nair) clashes with Andrea (Julie Gonzalo) over her recent coverage of Lex. The episode was directed by David McWhirter with story by Karen E. Maser and teleplay by Emilio Ortega Aldrich & Elle Lipson (#618). Original airdate 11/2/2021.
